Select few sides win the AFCON, very few ever won the title consecutively, and only Egypt has won the continental tournament three times in a row. The feat will forever score history books, and the run gave rise to legends such as Mohamed Aboutrika, Wael Gomaa, Essam El Hadary, and Ahmed Hassan. Their final tournament win in 2010 was consolatory in nature as the golden generation had missed out on their chance to qualify for the World Cup.
