Hitmaking singer, producer, and songwriter Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds has announced that he and his family tested positive — and have since recovered — from the coronavirus.

On April 10, the Grammy Award winner went on social media to celebrate his 62nd birthday, and to make the announcement. He said he and his family are “on the mend,” Deadline reported.

Babyface posted on Instagram: “I would like to warmly thank everyone for all the many birthday wishes today. I feel so blessed to be able to celebrate another birthday.”

He added: “I tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, as did my family. It’s an incredibly scary thing to go through.”

He urged fans to “stay home, stay safe.”

Babyface is the latest celebrity to reveal a positive diagnosis for COVID-19, joining actor Idris Elba; rap legend Scarface; Slim Thug and rapper YNW Melly, among others.

Babyface said he will be participating in an Instagram Live concert on Saturday, April 18 with famed producers Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Teddy Riley. He described the IG Live event as a “Celebration of Black Music Excellence,” and said it will include a “Teddy vs. Babyface” battle.

“So get ready for a night of groove and love. Ladies…put on your red dress…light the candles, pour some wine, and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes,” he wrote.

The event was initially scheduled for April 5 but was postponed, the Huffington Post reported.

Riley told radio host Charlamagne Tha God that the event was postponed because they wanted to make sure it would work smoothly online. He added that Edmonds was not “100%” and that he’s “been sick.”
