Greatest Sports Rivalries Of All Time
Rafael Nadal v. Roger Federer (Tennis)
Anybody who can play tennis nonstop for five hours is automatically included in this list, so Rafael Nadal’s and Roger Federer’s performances in the epic 2008 Wimbledon match rightfully earned them a coveted rivalry spot. Two of the kings of the tennis world, they have played each other 30 times, but Nadal has the lead 20-10 (Nadal is considered to have the edge on clay courts, where they have played more often, but Federer dominates on grass). Their rivalry is considered a turning point for tennis, increasing the popular attention it receives, despite the fact that both men continue to show respect and admiration for the other. No physical bouts of violence have erupted mid-match. Luckily, their careers are still young, so there’s time yet.
