Tiwa first signed an endorsement deal in 2012 with Pepsi and in 2014 she renewed her contract with the mega brand. Beyoncé also signed an endorsement deal with Pepsi in 2012.

LaQuan Smith dresses them both

Both Tiwa and Beyoncé have been dressed by fashion designer LaQuan Smith of Queens, New York. Tiwa wore a white LaQuan Smith dress to the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in 2014. The designer has made custom pieces for Beyoncé.

They’re both feminists

Tiwa and Beyoncé both did their part for International Women’s Day, March 8. Tiwa performed at the Artiel Women’s Day Concert in Uganda and Beyoncé signed a “Poverty is Sexist” letter along with other women’s rights activists.

Both married into the entertainment biz

Before Tiwa met her husband Tunji Balogun, she tried recruiting him to become her manager. Balogun wouldn’t return Tiwa’s phonecalls, but by happenstance he met her through a friend in Los Angeles. They fell in love, married, and he became her manager in the end. Beyoncé is also married to someone in the entertainment business –rapper and producer Jay-Z.

She’s controversial

Several of Beyoncé’s songs and videos have sparked controversy, like her 2013 song “Bow Down” in which she confidently (some argue arrogantly) sings, “I know when you were little girls you dreamt of being in my world.” Tiwa recently stirred up controversy with the video for her song “Wanted” in which she appears to be completely nude.
