Profit over her dead body. Literally.

After one customer dropped dead of a heart attack in a Croatian McDonald’s, the staff allegedly propped her body up in a corner, covered her face with a napkin, and continued to serve at the drive-thru window. Some reports said the main seating area remained open while the body was in the room.

One seriously loyal customer

No mushroom caps and cheese platters for this funeral. Pennsylvania resident and loyal Burger King customer David S. Kime, Jr. dined at Burger King his entire life. He had one request for his funeral: Whoppers for all. Forty Whopper juniors were made for his funeral, and one was buried with him.

Not suited for children

Burger King faced a wrongful death suit after a toddler suffocated on a Pokemon toy being sold at a Los Angeles location. Two weeks later, another child almost died from the same toy, causing Burger King to recall more than 25 million Pokeballs.

Dangerous drunk munchies

Two police officers faced fines after releasing a drunk man they’d arrested at a Ohio Taco Bell. After being let go, the drunk man allegedly got in a vehicle and hit and killed a man outside the fast food establishment.

Collapse in the cooler

A 42-year-old man was found dead in a cooler at a Spokane, Washington Taco Bell. It seems from reports that the man intentionally locked himself in the cooler. He did not die from exposure to the cold but from some other, possibly drug-related cause.

When a Burger King customer and an employee got into an argument at a Detroit, Michigan establishment, punches were thrown. After being hospitalized, the customer died of what doctors deemed to be blunt trauma to the head. The employee was charged with homicide.

Deadly soda machine

An 80-year-old woman was found dead in the bathroom of a Pooler, Georgia McDonald’s after being exposed to a lethal level of carbon dioxide. Authorities found that a hose leading to the soda machine used to carbonate beverages had been improperly attached, and had been leaking carbon dioxide into the nearby bathroom for days.

A fatal fender bender

A woman at the Miami Burger King corporate headquarters got into a fender bender when backing out of a parking spot. She got out of her SUV and walked behind it to check the damage, but accidentally left her vehicle running. Her car ran her over and she died instantly.

Winds too strong for this bell

A couple in Chambers, Nebraska was sitting in their truck on a particularly windy day when a Taco Bell sign above fell over and crushed their car, killing the woman. The National Weather Center recorded wind speeds of 30 to 35 miles per hour that day.

Tainted meat

A 2-year-old died from an infection linked to Jack in the Box hamburgers in 1993. The boy suffered heart and kidney failure caused by E. coli bacteria, which had been traced back to Jack in the Box. The infection took a little over a week to kill him.

A real life Willy Wonka disaster

An employee of a plant owned by Lyons & Sons in New Jersey fell into an eight-foot vat of boiling hot chocolate and died, a victim of the mixing propellers. The worker was mixing in raw chocolate to be made into Hershey’s products when he fell. Co-workers attempted to get him out but were too late.

A retirement home in California regularly rewarded residents with fast food when they obeyed the establishment’s rules. But after being fed a fast food hamburger, a resident who was on a low-fat, low-sodium diet was found dead on the floor with an obstructed airway. The state fined the facility $10,000.

Nuggets with a nagging feeling

After having lunch with his family at a McDonald’s in Claremont, California, a man went to another restaurant and opened fire, killing 21 people.
