The Bela Bela events are based on the Iron Man principles and format, and are non-drafting races. The events take place at the Forever Resorts Warmbaths — a family friendly resort with several pools and waterslides. Athletes swim 1.5K (0.93 miles) in the resort ski dam, bike 40K (24.9 miles) on a hilly road and run a flat 10K (6.2 miles) on a resort course. The bushveld resort setting makes the race a great triathlon weekend getaway and it’s an ideal African getaway for international athletes. Warmbaths has a spa and indoor-outdoor therapeutic natural springs for the ultimate post-race relaxation, according to its website. The race features an 85,000 rand ($7578 US) prize purse.
