Martin Lawrence

Martin Lawrence made almost the ultimate sacrifice for his work when, after jogging in 100-degree heat to lose weight for a role, he suffered heat stroke and landed in the hospital — and a three day coma. Lawrence’s temperature reached 107 degrees after his jog. Doctors say that when the body overheats, the kidneys can become clogged which can lead to coma or death.

Jerry Garcia

In 1986, the Grateful Dead guitarist fell into a diabetic coma for five days. The incident was so detrimental to his brain that when he came out of the coma Garcia had to relearn how to play the guitar.
