Mozambique is famous for its beaches and fresh seafood, but not its Twitter celebrities. That said, there is still a twitter presence in the Southern African nation, although some of the most-followed profiles include the U.S. Embassy and the Mozambique branch of UNICEF. Here are the top 10 most-followed Twitter profiles associated with Mozambique, according to Socialbakers.com, a website devoted to Twitter stats.
10. Basilio Muhate
No. 10 on our list has just 939 followers — that’s how few people tweet in Mozambique. Basilio Muhate is an economist and politician and tweets in Portuguese on a variety of subjects — sometimes he asks questions of his fans, other times he talks politics.
9. DJ Wizard
The DJ, producer and Big Brother Africa star is No. 9 on our list with around 1,300 followers. Here’s a recent tweet:
Leonel Estevao, also known as DJ Wizard, ranks No. 8 and No. 9 for most-followed handles on Twitter in Mozambique, although the DJ, producer and “Big Brother Africa” star doesn’t tweet from this handle as much. His last tweet was in June:
