McDonald’s has been around for more than 60 years, so it was only natural that its loyal fans, employees and even the franchise owners themselves began playing around with the menu and came up with twists on the classics. Here are 10 of the tastiest items off the McDonald’s secret menu and some that genius foodies created. The reason the menu is called “secret” is because it’s really only shared amongst McDonald’s enthusiasts–if you ask a McDonald’s employee for one of these items by its nickname, he or she will typically not know what you’re talking about, according to Abcnews.com. But, you can ask for the specific alterations you want made to regular items, to create these “secret” items usually without a hitch.

The Chicken McGriddle

Sometimes called the McChicken and Waffles, this is one of the most beloved items off the secret menu, and is even on the official menu in some Southeastern states. Here’s what it is: a fried chicken patty sandwiched between two McGriddles. According to Secretmenuguide.com, you can also just add a chicken patty to a regular McGriddle.

McCrepe

If you’re a crepe purist, you may cringe at this. But it’s delicious! According to Csmonitor.com you can order a McCrepe and get a McDonald’s fluffy pancake rolled up and filled with anything from yogurt to bacon. In France the McCrepe is on the official menu.

McDonald’s 10:35

The reason this sandwich is called the 10:35 is because it requires ingredients off both the lunch and breakfast menu, meaning you can only order it between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Here’s what it is, according to Npr.org: a McDouble topped with egg and Canadian bacon.

McDonalds Root Beer Float

You could toss root beer over any ice cream, sure, but there is nothing quite like that soft-serve vanilla ice cream from McDonald’s. Order a McDonald’s root beer float and Secretmenuguide.com tells us the staff will usually make this concoction for you. Otherwise, you can order a vanilla ice cream, put it in a large cup, order a soda, and make magic happen yourself.

Monster Mac

There was a rather popular challenge published on Youtube.com based around eating this item. The Monster Mac has all the regular toppings of a Bic Mac, but it has eight beef patties.

Fries with Big Mac Sauce

If you love that creamy Big Mac sauce that resembles mayonnaise but is just a little tangier and tastier, you can order it on top of your fries according to Secretmenu.org. Some forums such as Chowhound.how.com, are warning that some McDonald’s are now charging extra for the sauce.

Poor Man’s Big Mac

There is a dollar menu at McDonald’s, but if you’re craving the Big Mac (not on the dollar menu), try this trick from Seriouseats.com: order the $1 McDouble without ketchup or mustard, ask for shredded lettuce and Big Mac sauce to be added and you’ve almost got yourself a $1 Bic Mac.

Pie McFlurry

You probably love vanilla ice cream with pie. Now imagine McDonald’s ice cream mixed with with those little crispy, warm, fluffy pies filled up gooey fruit. This isn’t officially on the secret menu, but it should be. If you order a vanilla ice cream cone, an apple pie and an empty cup, you can crush up the ice cream cone (cone and all!) with the pie in the cup and you’ll be in heaven.
