A new survey lists the best and worst states for working mothers in the U.S. Nearly all the best states for working moms are located in the Northeast. The rankings are based on an analysis of nine areas that are then grouped into three categories: child-rearing services, professional opportunities and work-life balance. Here are the 10 worst states for working moms to live according to the personal finance site WalletHub.com.

10. Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is one of the few states east of the Mississippi to make the worst rankings list. It ranked middle-of-the-road in the professional opportunities and work-life balance metrics, but came in 43rd place for childcare.

9. Missouri

Missouri scored worse than average across all three categories — child-rearing services, professional opportunities and work-life balance — although its ranking for availability and cost of childcare was its highest-scoring metric.

8. Colorado

Colorado placed 22nd in the U.S. for work-life balance, but when it comes to professional opportunities for working moms and the cost of childcare, Colorado scored 37th and 42nd  respectively.

7. Kansas

The situation in Kansas is similar, with the state placing 26th for work-life balance but 45th place when it comes to professional opportunities and 40th for childcare.

6. Nevada

Nevada placed dead last when it comes to childcare, but when it comes to professional work opportunities for moms it placed 14th in the U.S. That said, the work-life balance was pretty miserable at 47th place.

5. South Carolina

South Carolina is one of three southern states to place in the bottom five of the 10-worst category for working moms. South Carolina scored very poorly in the childcare category at 48th place. It did slightly better for professional opportunities and work-life balance, scoring 31st and 38th respectively.

4. Idaho

The Rocky Mountain region doesn’t do so well when it comes to working moms with all but Montana making it to the worst 10 list. Idaho ranked in 13th place for work-life balance. But finding a job appears to be extremely difficult with the state placing 48th in the professional work category. Overall, Idaho is the fourth-worst place for working moms to live.

3. Wyoming

Wyoming fared poorly across the board, earning it the No. 3 spot on our list. Its highest ranking came in the field of work-life balance with a score of 31st place. In professional opportunities and childcare it placed in 44th place for both.

2. Mississippi

It’s hard for working moms to find quality work in Mississippi, which ranked 47th in this category. If moms manage to find work, their work-life balance is likely going to challenging. The state placed 48th in this metric. On the plus side, the childcare score landed Mississippi in 35th place.

1. Louisiana

Louisiana ranks as the worst state in the country for working moms, coming in nearly last in both childcare and professional opportunities categories. It fared slightly better in 35th place for work-life balance.
