If you’re afraid that juicing means drinking liquefied broccoli, or chopping produce for two hours a day, maybe these simple and delicious recipes will warm you up to the idea.
Immune Booster
This recipe comes to us from Health.com. We love it because it uses fruits you probably keep around for your breakfast yogurt-parfaits anyway, the seeds from the kiwis give the juice a nice texture, and the orange and grapefruit combination is the perfect not-too-sweet, not-too-bitter citrus boost.
Simply Sweet Romaine
This recipe comes to us from RawJuiceCleanseRecipes.com and consists of apples, carrots and romaine lettuce. The best thing about this recipe is that these products are some of the cheapest at the store—and you probably thought juicing would be expensive. The romaine gives the juice that green hue that makes you feel like a serious juicer, but it hardly alters the flavor.
Apple Kale Love
This recipe comes to us from GreenJuiceADay.com and yes, it does use kale but, that is the only veggie in here—usually green kale juices are full of every other cruciferous veggie under the sun. The lemon juice takes the bitterness out of the kale, and this ends up tasting like slightly sour apple juice. The ingredients are kale, apple and lemon.
Bananabandana
This is another kale recipe from TheHandMadeHome.net, but the juice comes out completely yellow, so it’s a nice, bright juice to drink in the morning. The ingredients are simply banana, pineapple, cucumber and kale. The cucumber makes the juice extra cool, while the banana makes it smooth, sort of like a smoothie.
The Pink Lady
This recipe comes from ChoosingRaw.com and we love the dramatic purple hue it gets from the beet. It’s an entirely sweet juice, made with pears, beets, ginger and pineapple. The ginger gives a slight zest, and the pear smooths out the taste. Make a big jug of it and drink it instead of your usual lunchtime, store-bought juice.
The Nut-Lover’s Juice
This is such a unique juice recipe from Omegavrt350.org, but we think you’ll love it. It combines sweet potatoes, almonds, apples and oranges. The sweet potato gives a creamy flavor, the almonds add a little salt and roasted flavor, and the fruit makes the whole thing taste like a fruit-and-nut crumble pie.
Rise and Grind
We found this spunky little recipe from FitMama4Life.com, and since it’s packed with hydration from the celery and cucumber, we can see how it would help wake up your body in the morning. The ingredients are apples, celery, cucumber, ginger and cinnamon. The apple and cinnamon are a great combination, and the celery and cucumber add tons of water, giving the juice a green color, but that won’t affect the taste much.
Verdant Intermediate
These ingredients might seem too veggie-heavy, but rest assured, this came to us from an Upwave.com post called “Green Juice Recipes For People Who Don’t Like Vegetables.” It has a mild flavor. The ingredients are celery, kale or spinach, cucumber and wheatgrass. Feel free to squeeze in some lemon if the taste is too bland, but we promise it won’t shock your senses.
Spring Cooler
This is another recipe from GreenJuiceDay.com, and it is super refreshing. The ingredients are apple, cucumber, ginger root and mint. The mint and cucumber give this a great, summery flavor, while the apple sweetens the juice and the cucumber keeps it nice and cool.
Melon Carrot OJ Juice
Carrot and orange are a common combination for regular juicers, but the carrot can be too salty for some. This recipe from All-About-Juicing.com calls for just carrots, oranges and some melon, and the melon makes the entire juice brighter, sweeter and very breakfast friendly.
