2.Tanned skin.

Denver boasts 300 days of sunshine a year, which means that we spend more hours of catching rays than almost anyone – even residents of San Diego and Miami Beach!

3. Athletic calves.

If they have cankles, they’re probably a Seahawks fan. Denver is one of the top U.S. biking cities, which means residents have plenty of opportunities to tone up their calves with regular cycling. Denver had the nation’s first bike-sharing program, which now offers more than 800 bikes at 83 stations throughout the city. Another example of how bike-friendly this city is: 850 miles of paved, off-street bike trails.

4. They look good in their jeans.

And it’s not just because of their toned legs. Denver is known for its laid-back, urban chic style. It’s OK for Denverites to wear jeans to work, or even the opera – but while they’re keeping it casual, they always look sharp!

5. They’re booked on the first flight back after the Super Bowl.

New York might be the city that never sleeps, but this is powder season. No true Coloradan stays away for more than a couple days at this time of year.

6. You overhear them ordering a “growler” at the bar.

With more than 200 different beers brewed every day and 29 breweries downtown, Denver puts out more beer than any other U.S. city. Residents of the Mile High City regularly head to the brewpub to pick up a “growler,” or a container filled with fresh craft beer.

7. They know who James Beard is.

Denver’s foodie scene gained recognition in 2013 when local chef Jen Jasinski of Rioja won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Southwest (and went on to be a finalist on “Top Chef Masters”). More than a dozen Denver-based chefs have had the honor of cooking in New York’s James Beard House.

8. They stop to ask the locals, “Which way is West?”

That’s because they can’t spot the Rocky Mountains anymore. From almost anywhere in Denver, you can see the mountain range to the west – and Denverites will be lost without that 125-mile-long panorama of more-than 200 named peaks.

9. They’re decked out in orange.

Denver has eight professional sports teams, which means fans have plenty of fan gear stocked up! And since the Broncos have sold out every game for 44 seasons – the second longest sellout streak in NFL history – you can expect that team pride will be showing in full force.

10. They have tickets to a Broadway show while they’re in town.

The Mile High City rakes in more public money for the arts per capita than any other American city. In fact, before it built a school or a hospital, the city of Denver staged “Macbeth”! The local performing arts complex houses 10 stages and plays host to operas, symphonies, ballets, theater, and touring Broadway shows. Needless to say, Denverites appreciate a good show!
