Tanzania on Thursday raised the price of petrol and kerosene at the pump and marginally lowered that of diesel, citing a weaker local currency and swings in international energy prices.

Fuel prices are the second-biggest drivers of inflation in the east African nation, after food commodities.

The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) put up the retail price of petrol by 0.75 percent and that of kerosene by 0.68 percent.

It cut the price of diesel by 0.07 percent in the latest monthly review of retail prices, which take immediate effect.
