South Africa Football Academies Seek To Nature Future Talent

African teams have performed dismally at the groups stages of the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. African teams continue to struggle under the dominance of other richer and more established teams from Europe and South America.

South Africa, which hosted the previous World Cup in 2010, whose Bafana Bafana did not qualify for this year’s tournament plans to build the next generation of Africa’s through youth academies, CCTV Africa reported.

“Working with the youngsters down here i definitely think there is potential but i also think that if everything gets done properly in terms of supporting the coaches,they’ll be more qualified to actually do the proper training because at grassroots especially on the Cape flats,you do find clubs where,its parents helping out so are not that skilled to coach kids in doing the proper basics,” Football youth coach Fuad Bester said.
