Samuel Eto’o Closing In On Antalyaspor Move

Striker Samuel Eto’o is reportedly close to completing a transfer that would see him leave Italian Serie A club Sampdoria to join newly promoted Turkish club Antalyaspor.

The Turkish outfit have produced confirmation that they are in talks with the Cameroonian attacker in the hopes of coming to an agreement on a deal, but they stressed that nothing is yet set in stone.

“We have an agreement with the player. But there are still problems about the player’s image rights in Italy. We will solve these problems as soon as possible,” said the Turkish club, according to SuperSport.

Reports in Italian daily sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Eto’o is likely to complete the move away from his Serie A club, as Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero believes that the 34-year-old will leave the Blucerchiati and make his way to Turkey.

According to the paper, Ferrero mentioned that Eto’o leaving after six months at the club is the story of someone who will “follow his heart and his wallet.”

The former captain of the Indomitable Lions did little to help Sampdoria during his short stint in Genoa, scoring only two goals in 18 appearances.

Eto’o has been at the top of the game for so many years, representing clubs of the calibre of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Anzhi Makhachkala, Chelsea, Everton and Sampdoria during a decorated career.
