How To Africa: Anie Akpe Talks Business Consultancy, Engaging The African Diaspora

In this episode of “How To Africa,” we once again feature Anie Akpe, founder IBOM LLC, a New York-based consultancy that educates Africans in the diaspora seeking to start small- and medium-sized businesses.

In the first video, Akpe gave five key tips that one needs when starting a business consultancy anywhere in the world. In this second and last video of the series she talks about how she started her own consultancy business and how she ended up engaging the African diaspora community in the U.S.

“The way that I got started  in business consultancy is when I started going to events within the African diaspora community,” Akpe told AFKInsider in an interview. “And as I started to go to these events people started asking me questions on ‘how do I do this with my business?’ My daytime job is vice president of mortgages at a financial institution.”

“I used to get those questions and as I got them I said, you know what, it’s time to give to the community so let me go ahead and start my business so I can properly address these questions and have seminars and events that educate them at the same time.”
