Uber Records Good Growth In Lagos In The First 10 Months

Slightly over 10 month ago Uber, a on-demand taxi service mobile application, launched in Lagos Nigeria, a city with more than 5 million people and notorious for its heavy traffic jams.

This was the fourth city Uber was launching in Africa After Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa and Nairobi in Kenya.

According to Uber-Lagos General Manager Ebi Atawodi, the company has recorded good growth since it launched.

In an interview with IT News Africa on the sidelines of the Mondato Summit in Johannesburg earlier in June, She said there has been 50-time growth in the company’s supply, which means 50 folds more Uber drivers in Lagos in the last ten months.

In terms of demand, the company has grown by 200-folds within the same period, Atawodi said.
