Mara Founder Ashish Thakkar Mentoring South African Entrepreneurs

From CPAfrica. Story by Christie Uzebu.

Tanzania-based Mara Foundation, a social enterprise that focuses on emerging African entrepreneurs, has partnered with South Africa’s National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) to launch Mara Mentor, an initiative designed to assist young entrepreneurs by connecting them with mentors.

Mara Mentor is an online community that connects ambitious entrepreneurs with experienced and inspiring business leaders. The initiative encourages idea and knowledge sharing among Africa’s most promising young entrepreneurs, inspiring a collaborative approach to business start-up and growth.

Mara Mentor seeks to empower Africa’s youth in their business endeavours, in recognition that they are the driving force behind the continent’s growth and future prosperity.

With Mara Mentor, young entrepreneurs can interact with the online community by raising question, kick-starting discussions and reaching out for personalized advice from mentors who are available to o«er one-on-one advice and share general business tips and resources. They can also
use the platform to showcase their business ideas and seek out like-minded individuals to identify new business opportunities.

According to Ashish Thakkar, founder of the Mara Foundation, “We want to seize the opportunity presented by the proliferation of mobile phones on the continent, to provide more young people with the expert advice that they need to launch and grow their businesses.”
