How A Nigerian Food Startup Is Using Tech To Reach Consumers

Using her own savings, Nigerian entrepreneur Biebele Somiari started an online venture, Food-I-Like, that runs a fast food delivery services in Abuja. The service allows customers to call up and order food from up to 30 restaurants, then have the food delivered to their home or office.

“The mobile penetration has made it so that there’s a need for convenience,” Somiari told Al Jazeera in an interview. “There’s a need for delivery. There’s a need for that provision of logistics in terms of the meals for consumers.”

Like 50 other startups in Nigeria, Somiari’s startup was supported by a government-funded organization called Enspire, that aim to help entrepreneurs learn basic computer programming skills to enables them to start online businesses.
