Redknapp Believes That Ayew Is Signing For Swansea

According to a Tweet from Harry Redknapp, the veteran coach believes that Ghana star Andre Ayew will complete a move from Marseille to Swansea City.

The news may surprise many people, as Ayew has been at the centre of a great deal of interest from numerous clubs all over Europe, with many top sides displaying interest in the Ghana international.

The son of Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele will not be at the Stade Veledrome next season, as he has refused to sign an extension to his contract with the Ligue 1 club.

His performances for his French club, and the Ghana national team at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the Black Stars ended the tournament as runners up to eventual winners Cote D’Ivoire, have caught the eye of teams in England, Italy and Germany.

English clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham, Swansea City, Everton and Liverpool have been linked to Ayew, while German sides Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg are all rumoured to be keen on his services.

Reports in Italy have revealed strong interest from Inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli and Roma.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United coach Redknapp, who is currently unattached, joined Twitter this week, and quickly gained over 148,000 followers on the social media platform.

The 68-year-old tweeted about Ayew, saying: “Heard Swansea are close to signing Andre Ayew from Marseille. He’s on the way there with his agent Mark Mackay to do the deal. Good player.”

The Ghanaian was named the best African player in the French Ligue 1, following his impressive season for Marseille. He was given the honour ahead of Saint-Etienne’s Ivorian striker Max Gradel in second place, and Tunisia’s Aymen Abdennour, who plays for Monaco.
