Tottenham Gives Emmanuel Adebayor Compassionate Leave

English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur have decided to grant Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor compassionate leave so that he can return to Togo and deal with family issues that have plagued him, especially in recent times.

The striker was given permission to return to Togo earlier in the season  by his club, and this is now a second occasion where he is returning home to try and come to terms with his family problems.

Adebayor recently wrote a long and detailed post on his personal Facebook page to expose the personal pain and family turmoil that he has experienced in his past, revealing the extent to which his family has tried to take advantage of him.

The former Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal player explained the constant problems that he has had with his family over the years and the burden that his finances have caused him due to the expectation from his family members.

The post revealed that he has been at the centre of this constant squabble with his relatives, and the troubles have remained fresh this season, affecting his form at club level, where he has struggled to perform to a high standard.

The leave will see Adebayor exempt from training during the coming week, and as a result he will miss the final EPL match of the season against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday. He will also not be available for his club’s post-season tour to Malaysia and Australia.
