Barcelona Win La Liga Title, PSG Are Ligue 1 Champions

Barca Are Champs

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have secured the Spanish and French top flight titles respectively, winning their weekend matches to ensure that the chasing teams behind them cannot mathematically catch them before the end of the season.

Real Madrid took on Espanyol while Barcelona faced Atletico Madrid in La Liga action on Sunday, with a four point gap between the Catalans and Galacticos meaning that a victory for Barca or a loss for Real would hand the title to the Blaugrana.

A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick made sure of a 4-1 victory for Real Madrid, but Lionel Messi was on target for his club to produce a 1-0 victory over Diego Simeone’s side in Madrid, as Barcelona topped their eternal rivals in the Spanish La Liga stakes with one final game to go.

PSG On Top In France

Paris Saint-Germain continue to dominate the French scene, celebrating their third title in a row on the second last day of the season, following a 2-1 victory over Montpellier.

The win means that Lyon, who are second at the moment, cannot possibly reach the top spot on the final day.

Their eighth straight league win was a result of strikes from Blaise Matuidi and Ezequiel Lavezzi, while a Anthony Mounier consolation goal left the score at 2-1 in favour of the Parisians, who were without star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic through injury.
