Kenya Coffee Revenue Fall Worries Investors

Kenya Coffee Revenue Fall Worries Investors

Kenyan coffee is sought worldwide for blending other varieties of the commodity due to it unique quality and fruity flavor. But in the last few years the amount of coffee produced has dropped significantly as farmers, frustrated by unscrupulous middle men between them and the auction in the capital Nairobi, abandon the crop.

The quality of coffee produced has also declined as farmers fail to take proper care of the coffee tree. Coffee is one of Kenya’s main exports and earns the East African nation millions of dollars each year. It also provides employment to many.

Al Jazeera reports that investors in the sector are now worried that their earnings from the commodity will drop further this year following improved harvests among major producers Brazil and Colombia.
