Adebayor Takes To Facebook To Reveal Family Turmoil

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has written a long and detailed post on his personal Facebook page to expose the personal pain and family turmoil that he has experienced in his past, revealing the extent to which his family has tried to take advantage of him.

The former Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal player explained the constant problems that he has had with his family over the years and the burden that his finances have caused him due to the expectation from his family members.

He wrote on his Facebook page: “I have kept these stories for a long time but I think today it is worth sharing some of them with you. It’s true that family matters should be solved internally and not in public but I am doing this so that hopefully all families can learn from what happened in mine. Also keep in mind that none of this is about money.”

He went on to detail the many occasions where he was asked for money by his mother, sisters and brothers, and the ungrateful way in which they expected his to pay for their various wants and needs, including funds for businesses they attempted to open, in which he indulged them.

Despite his generosity, they would often treat him badly, as though he was selfish and ungrateful, unwilling to accept that their greedy attitudes stalled him from launching his charity foundation as a result.

Adebayor struggled with the death of his brother, Peter, for which his family places some blame at his feet, despite the fact that he attempted to help and says he was turned away by his mother, who was only interested in his money, but not his presence.

The Tottenham striker has struggled to find his form this season, scoring only two goals from 17 appearances.

The Togo player followed up that original post with a more upbeat message to fans on his Facebook page, saying: “Every struggle has shaped me into the man I am today. I am thankful, even for the hard times. They only made me stronger.”
