Drogba: Chelsea Will Always Be My Number One Club

Ivorian striker Didier Drogba has confessed his love for club side Chelsea following their capture of the English Premier League (EPL) title this weekend.

The Blues defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 thanks to a strike from Belgian star Eden Hazard, ensuring that Jose Mourinho’s charges could no longer be reached by the chasing pack of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Former Cote D’Ivoire captain Drogba played a part in Chelsea’s first title victory in five years, though not as great as in previous campaigns, scoring four league goals in 27 games during the season, adding one assist to his stats.

Speaking to reporters following the league success, Drogba gushed about his London club and the special place they hold in his heart.

“This one is sweet. Chelsea will always be my number one club,”he said, according to AfricanFootball.

“It’s my third time to win it in front of the fans and it’s amazing. What next? A good rest and a good celebration!”

This title triumph is Mourinho’s third English top flight crown with the Blues, while it is Drogba’s fourth EPL title for Chelsea.

The Ivorian attacker was not part of the title winning Cote D’Ivoire national team at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this year in Equatorial Guinea, having retired for the Elephants last year.
