Ghana’s Kwadwo Asamoah Back In Training For Juventus

Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah has finally returned to the training pitch for Serie A side Juventus, following an injury that has kept him away from the action for the Italian champions.

The popular 26-year-old completed his first proper training session along with team-mates over the weekend, bringing an end to four months spent away from the field while recovering from an injury to his left knee.

Asamoah suffered the knock in November, and although an early prognosis predicted that he would make his return by the end of January, a number of unexpected setbacks have extended his time on the sidelines.

The Black Stars midfield maestro is now working to regain his fitness for the Bianconeri, with a view to returning to action in the coming weeks. Great depth in the squad has allowed the Turin side to compensate for the loss of Asamoah, who was in excellent form last year before succumbing to injury.

Juventus are currently top of Serie A on 73 points and comfortably coasting towards the title. This coming weekend will see Juve take on Torino in the Turin Derby, which is always a tense and important match for both northern Italian sides.

Unfortunately, the Ghana midfielder will still have to watch this encounter from the stands, but will likely return to the bench in early May to get some game time before the end of the season. With Juventus still in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, Asamoah may still be able to count on some European football before the current campaign comes to an end in early June.

As a result of the injury, the former Udinese player missed out on representing his national team at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where Ghana ended the tournament as runners up to eventual winners Cote D’Ivoire after a tense 9-8 penalty shootout victory.
