French telecommunications company AlcatelLucent wants to use Senegal as a gateway for expansion into Africa, and plans to open a networks management supervision center in Dakar, according to a report in BizTechAfrica.
Company managing director Michel Combes said his company wants Senegal to be the hub of West and Central Africa for digital data and network management due to its significant Internet and mobile use rate.
Established in 2006 as AlcatelLucent, the company is a merger of Alcatel and Lucent Technologies. It has been operating in some in Senegal form for more than 20 years and has more than 80 employees.
