Treepreneurs Carve Out New Business In Cape Town

Planting trees does more than beautify the environment throughout Cape Town’s townships. For participants of the Treepreneurs program, planting trees is a financial and sustainability tool that can be offered for educational subsidies and other goods, CCTV Africa reported. More than 40,000 trees have been planted by close to 200 treepreneurs.

“I’m planning to extend my tree business because it’s my income. The money I earn from the trees, it’s helps me for my son’s schooling, for the food in the house, the clothing for the children — everything. It’s a huge help,” Thandeka Ntakana said.
