Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse is facing a seven-match ban after accepting a Football Association charge in relation to the spitting incident with Jonny Evans.
The pair were involved in unsavoury scenes shortly before half-time of Wednesday’s Old Trafford encounter, where Red Devils defender Evans appeared to spit at Cisse after tussling for the ball, with the latter reacting angrily.
Newcastle’s Senegal forward is now in danger of missing a large chunk of the season’s run-in, having already been suspended for violent conduct earlier in the season.
He said: “I reacted to something I found very unpleasant. Sometimes it is hard not to react, particularly in the heat of the moment.”
