Ghana: We Won’t Make The Digital Migration Deadline

“We are in March. There’s no way we can beat this deadline,” Henry Kanor, Ghana’s National Communication Authority director said in a CCTV Africa report. “However, it’s not a big deal.”

According to the report, South Africa has also come to the conclusion that it will not hit June 17, 2015 digital migration deadline. Kanor said that a fear for Ghana would be experiencing interference from neighboring countries that are successfully moving from analog to digital systems. Luckily, he added, Ghana’s neighboring countries are also behind in the shift.

Officials in the report attributed the sluggish transition to “decision making” and the abundance of paths to take in creating digital communications communities in Africa.
