Sulley Muntari To Fight For Milan First Team Spot

Ghanaian Sulley Muntari has vowed to work hard and regain the confidence of AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi in order to cement his place in the starting eleven of the Serie A side.

The midfielder lost his place following a series of below par displays for the Italian giants, including a disappointing 3-1 loss to log leaders Juventus in which Muntari captained the team.

He was not even picked for the squad in Milan’s 1-1 draw with Empoli, but returned to the side for their 2-0 victory over Cesena at the weekend, though he was an unused substitute in that encounter.

Speaking to Milan Channel, the official television broadcaster of the San Siro selection, Muntari revealed that he has the determination to regain his first team spot with the Rossoneri.

“I’m happy in Milan and I will stay here for another season,” Muntari said to the channel when quizzed about his future prospects.

“Being in the team’s official line-up is my first aim for now and I will do my best to recuperate my performance and to convince my coach that I deserve a permanent place in the team,” he added.

The 30-year-old was not selected to play for the Ghana national team at the recently concluded 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Equatorial Guinea, where the Black Stars produced an impressive campaign, progressing all the way to the final, before losing to Cote D’Ivoire in a penalty shootout.
