The minister of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment, Abdou Jobe, has disclosed that a recent World Bank Report doing business indicator has ranked The Gambia third in trade and economic performance in the ECOWAS region.

Minister Jobe was speaking on Friday at the Kairaba Beach Hotel in Kololi, where he presided over the official opening of a three-day Gambia-Turkey Business and Investment Forum.

He informed that the forum came as a result of the efforts of the two heads of state, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh and his Turkish counterpart, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Edorgan. The first round of the forum, he added, which came in the form of a joint economic commission, was also held successfully in Banjul in May 2014.

He assured the Turkish investors that The Gambia is a peaceful country and strategically located for business, and that the government will create the enabling environment for potential investors. He, therefore, urged the Gambian business operators to make best use of the visit of the Turkish delegation and network with them during the course of their mission in order to make fruitful business relations.
