South Africa Sevens Rugby Side Finishes Third In Las Vegas

South Africa clung to their narrow lead on top of the HSBC Sevens World Series after finishing third in Las Vegas in the early hours of Monday morning (SA Time).

The Blitzboks scored a 31-0 victory over hosts the USA in their 3rd place playoff, putting aside their disappointing game against Fiji in the semifinals late Sunday night to claim some vital points on offer.

Fiji went on to win the Las Vegas title with a stunning 35-19 win over defending World Series champs New Zealand, moving them into third place on the overall standings, eight points behind South Africa.

The Blitzboks third place meant they stay on top of the standings, but are now just six points ahead of New Zealand, whose win in Wellington last week and final appearance in Las Vegas has moved them closer to the Blitzboks.
