Nigeria Interested In Friendly International Against Ghana In March

Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Ghana’s Black Stars may come head to head in an international friendly match on March 29, if the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) gets a positive response from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Ghana fell at the last hurdle in the recently concluded 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), losing to Cote D’Ivoire in the final by virtue of a penalty shootout.

Former AFCON champions Nigeria did not qualify for the 2015 Nations Cup, having lost out in their qualification group to South Africa and Congo, who progressed instead.

According to the Nigeria Bulletin, the NFF have organised a friendly against Bolivia on March 26 at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State before the Black Stars are expected to take on the Super Eagles at a yet to be confirmed English location, thought to be somewhere in London.

The GFA have not yet confirmed whether or not they will accept the invitation to take on the Nigerians, but according to Ghanasoccernet, the Ghana football authorities are said to be considering the offer with great interest.

Ghana’s last encounter with Nigeria took place in 2011 at the Vicarage Road, and the match ended in a goalless draw.

Both teams are looking to fine tune their sides and prepare for the upcoming 2017 AFCON qualifiers in June and the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers beginning in October.
