Youth Vision Zambia director of programmes Chilambe Katuta says the youth in Zambia should be considered as the country’s wealth.
Commenting on youth and sports deputy minister Chinga Miyutu’s statement that Zambia currently has the largest population of the youth in its history creating a critical opportunity for national development, Katuta said it was without doubt that young people in Zambia were and would be the driving force behind economic prosperity of the country
“It is true that Zambia currently has the largest population of the youth in its history. It has also been said that seven out of 10 people are 35 years old and below. When you take a walk in one of the high density areas in Lusaka for example, young people are everywhere. You will see some young people going about their business, some either going or coming back from school, and you will also find a lot of young people drinking beer,” he said.
