Cote D’Ivoire Return Home As 2015 AFCON Winning Heroes

Goalkeeper Boubacar Barry netted the winning spot-kick after Les Elephants played out a 0-0 draw with Ghana on Sunday evening to claim the trophy.

Yaya Toure and the rest of the Ivory Coast football team were welcomed home with a heroes welcome after their Africa Cup of Nations triumph on Sunday night.

Les Elephants won the coveted trophy for the first time in 22 years with the penalty shoot-out victory over Ghana in Malabo, in which goalkeeper Boubacar Barry netted the winning spot kick.

And as the country’s golden generation finally got their hands on the AFCON trophy, hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets near the commercial capital of Abidjan to welcome their stars home with the trophy.
