UAE Firm Seals Deal To Build Mauritania Solar Projects

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, has signed a contract with Mauritania’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines, to deliver seven solar photovoltaic projects.

The projects with a total capacity of 12 megawatts will provide access to clean and reliable energy to seven towns across the African country, Masdar said in a statement.

The projects, which are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2016, will likely displace 6 million litres of diesel fuel annually and 16,134 tonnes of CO2 each year.
