The United Kingdom (UK) government has pledged to establish a free port in the Western region of Ghana to facilitate the haulage and maintenance of ships and other machinery used in the oil exploitation areas of the country.
This was announced by UK Prime Minister David Cameron during talks with his Ghanaian counterpart John Mahama at the G8 Summit. President Mahama and three other African heads were invited as observer countries at the summit.
