Former Top Golfer Builds Golf Courses For Tullow In Ghana

Former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley’s, who has successfully ventured into golf rental and redesign or renovating run-down courses business, is on course to complete constructing a couple of  golf courses in Ghana for oil explorer Tullow Oil.

“They’ve built a number of schools and hospitals where they’ve found oil as part of their corporate social responsibility and they want to do something through sport,” McGinley told the Independent.

“We’ve renovated some courses in Ghana and we’re just starting one in Kumasi.”

The veteran golfer was the founding investor in Clubstohire.com in 2010, which allows golfers to avoid hefty airline charges when they play abroad by renting clubs overseas. The company, which has “24 venue open around Europe” is looking to venture into the US this year.

“The next question is new frontiers. America is the obvious one with the massive amount of people that play golf there,” McGinley’s said.
