Congo’s Civil Servants Get Pay Via Mobile Banking

Mobile Banking is changing the way people manage money in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Government announced last year that it will exclusively make salary payments to civil servant via mobile money mainly because it is much more efficient and free from corruption, CCTV Reported.

In just over a year the number of bank accounts in the central Africa country has risen from about 1.5 million to over 4 million customers mainly due to the uptake of mobile banking services.

Despite initial hitches with rural payment, over 300,000 government employees are being paid every month via mobile phones.
