Private Sector Conference Strategizes Ways To Raise Africa’s Funds

Private sector funds are those that will better propel more economies of Africa to the forefront of world markets. CCTV Africa reported that last month’s private sector forum — hosted by The African Union and held in Nairobi — announced many ways of doing just that. For one, youth are being trained in sciences and business so that sectors can be bolstered and prepared for investment. Opening up the continent’s stock markets is a bigger strategy that will expedite the fundraising process.

“Stock exchanges have the opportunity to issue bonds, which media exchanges do do,” Geoff Rothschild, Director of the Nepad Business Foundation told CCTV Africa. “The challenge now with this tremendous infrastructure spend — that is needed for the African continent — is to be able to set up instruments that can be invested in by the general public.
