The Crops Research Institute (CRI) in Kumasi has organized a workshop on the production of roots and tubers for farmers in the Techiman Municipality, at Techiman.

It was sponsored by the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Project (WAAPP), to educate the participants on the challenges in the production of roots and tubers to increase production.

Mr Jonas Osei-Adu, a Research Officer at the Institute, said cocoyam, sweet potato, cassava, and yam were selected for increased production, while Techiman was selected in view of the large scale production of yams and cassava.

He stated that the workshop would assist to solve the numerous challenges facing farmers in the production of yam and cassava in the area.
