Mozambique Seeks Stronger Relations With Saudi Arabia

Ambassador Cesar Gouveia has expressed optimism that ties between Saudi Arabia and Mozambique would further strengthen with the election of a new president.

“President Felipe Jacinto Nyusi, who recently won the presidential election, is expected to step up efforts to further improve ties between the two countries,” he told Arab News in an interview.

Nyusi, who was the Frelimo Party’s candidate and a former defense minister, defeated former President Alfonso Dhlakama of the Renamo Party, garnering 57.3 percent of the votes.
Gouveia added that Mozambique considers that “the two brotherly countries have the same stance as far as international issues are concerned.”
