President Goodluck Jonathan called on all local governments and communities that are hosts to private, states and federal projects to be receptive and partner with them in a bid to fast-track development not only to the communities but to the nation as a whole.

The president maintained that his administration is fully committed to continuously improving the framework and the enabling environment for a sound policy formulation that would guarantee access to long-term low interest finance and consistent regulatory guidelines.

Jonathan stated this at the occasion of the official flag-off of the $1 billion Azura-Edo Power Plant located at Ihonbor/Orior Osemwende communities in Uhumwonde local government area of Edo State.

The project is the first of a new wave of large project-finance, Greenfield IPPs currently being developed in Nigeria with debt and equity sourced from a consortium of local and international financiers.

Meanwhile, there was mild drama at the Benin Airport yesterday, as suspected political thugs loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party nearly disrupted the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan as they chanted anti-Oshiomhole songs with various placards.
