An Adventurer’s Guide To Mbale and Mount Elgon, Uganda

4,321 meter-high Mount Elgon, the oldest solitary volcano in East Africa (that’s not part of a larger volcanic range), often gets overlooked on the regional adventure trail. But it has a lot going for it; gorgeous slopes carpeted in shimmering green flora, fantastic birdwatching and some spectacular waterfalls nearby. The Ugandan town of Mbale, close to the Kenyan border, is the gateway to Mount Elgon.
