DRC Health Ministry Says Ebola Is Under Control

The Health Minister Felix Kabange in an official statement said that the Ebola outbreak in Equateur province in northern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been bought under control. The health authorites and their partners were successful in containing the epidemic in DR of Congo thereby lowering the rate of contamination.

Xinhua reported that till 17th September, DRC had reported 71 Ebola cases with 40 deaths. It also reported that no new cases of Ebola has been reported from the last 10 days.

The health minister has thanked the people for following the instructions, preventive measures and recommendations of health experts to fight against the deadly Ebola virus. The Congolese cabinet decided to send more financial and technical support to DRC for increasing the efficiency of medical teams involved in the fight against Ebola outbreak.

What is Ebola virus?

The Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a severe condition caused by a virus from the Filoviridae family. Known to be a condition that is transmitted from animals to humans, this virus spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person or animal.
