South Sudan Ignores Cut-off Warning, to Carry On With Oil Exportation via Sudan

South Sudan will continue to pump oil for export through Sudan despite a threat by Sudan’s president to shut down the pipeline, a South Sudanese official said Monday.

“Producing is still on,” said South Sudan’s oil minister, Stephen Dhieu Dau, according to Reuters. “We have not received any official communication from the government of Sudan, so we are still producing.”

On Saturday, President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan said he would shut down a pipeline carrying South Sudan’s oil through Sudan, accusing South Sudan of supporting rebels in Sudan.
