Ghana Has Earned $2.1-Plus Billion From Crude Oil Export From 2011 To June 2014

Ghanaian oil and gas companies have received $584, 221, 448.1 dollars in contracts since Ghana started drilling oil in 2010.

According to the Communications Consultant at the Energy Ministry, Edward Bawa ,”as at March this year (2014) this is the total value of service that has gone to Ghanaian companies.”

“Ghana has earned in excess of 2.1 billion dollars from the commercial production and export of crude from 2011 to June 2014. This comes a few weeks after a report cited Ghanaian workers in the oil and gas industry as among the least paid in the world,” , reports Ghana Web.

Ghana is trying to enact a law expected to ensure that Ghanaians benefit from foreign investments in the oil sector.

“If you have situations where about almost 600 million dollars of value of service has been given to local companies in Ghana , our whole idea is that over a period of time these figures should start increasing,” Bawa stressed.
