Cabo Verde Inks New Lucrative EU Fishing Accord

On Friday, August 29, the European Union announced that it had arrived at an agreement with Cape Verde for the renovation of the partnership accord between the two parties in the fishing sector. With the commitment, which goes into effect Monday, September 1, the European Union will pay Cape Verde 550,000 euros per year over the next two years, and 500,000 euros per year in the two following years, totaling 2,100,000 euros over the course of the four years in which the accord is to remain in effect. As such, the country will receive 360,000 Euros more than it did in the previous pact, during which it was paid 435,000 euros per year.
