Why Ebola is Worse Than Expected in Liberia, Across Africa

According to ABC News, within the Ebola zone — spanning parts of Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria — there is only one doctor for every 100,000 people. In addition to the lack of healthcare workers, the transmission of the virus from patients to healthcare workers is becoming a bigger problem than projected.

“The loss of lives of healthcare workers — I’m really concerned about that,” Dr. James Sirleaf, HEARTT Foundation medical director said about his biggest worry.

“Sometimes it’s scary, but we have to help our own people,” one healthcare worker at a Liberia clinic told ABC News.
